Our Sap house is nestled in a small town in the heart of the Catskill Mountains. During the 70's and 80's syrup was made as a hobby and production on a larger scale started in 1991. We are very proud to again be producing maple products utilizing the same sap bushes my Grandfather did in the 40's and 50's. We currently have 3000 taps on vacuum and are working to increase that number.
Through the combined effort of Burton Reed, Lee Buel, Harvey Gray, and Leon Howard syrup was made in this building. First on the farm of Lee Buel and when he retired Burt moved the sap house and evaporator to its present location. When the barn burned in 1959, they moved to the neighboring farm. The sap house remained on the old farm and is now used for storage by the Hanson and Peterson families.
